Here are some pictures of my new strat, '05 Standard Fat Strat, Brown Sunburst.
**Note** The red burst ring from the pictures doesn't look red at all when face to face with the guitar. Also the light grain really shows well too. Check out my wife's handy work too, she's quite the quilter!damint..I just love a good strat

Actually I was thinking about going back to SSS with Antiquity Custom bridge/Surfer/Surfer with a tortiseshell or partchment pickguard and aged knobs. I'm hoping that GJ will chime in again about his Strat with the Fat 50's set. I'm curious about those as well.

The Fender Fat 50's are great pickup IMO...I got to try a set not too long ago and was impressed...I would drop in a good set of Duncans and spend the extra $80.00 on the Callaham Tremolo Mexican upgrade kit...you get a new trem block, 6 saddle screws, 6 trem screws and a new bar...it is a huge improvement in both tone and sustain, as well as tuning stability!!

I just dismantled the whole guitar to check out a few things and set it up the way I like it. Put on .10's, which really made a big difference in tone and playability over the 9's that were stock. Pulled the neck and polished the living crap out of it(it's like glass now), rounded the fretboard edges with 600 grit, polished the fret ends to a nice smooth finish with the 600 grit, lemon oiled the rosewood, cleaned out the old polishing compound from the body and cavities. It's HHH routed if anyone wants to know and a single piece of alder. I'm really happy with it so far, plays like a dream and resonates VERY well. Can't wait for the next upgrade of pups and pickguard. I looked at that Callaham trem block upgrade and really wondered if it was worth it.

Picked up a very nice tortise shell pickguard and just ordered a Antiquity I Custom bridge. I printed out the whole quot;Ultimate Strat Tonequot; thread last night and really studied it closely. I think that in the process of building the pickguard I will do these mods: Callaham trem block, blender pot, master vol/tone, OD caps, new cts pots. When this thing is done it's going to be a first class strat! I love the feel of it now, especially after working over the neck and rolling the edges. Now to get the right tone.....I'm on the right track with the Ant Custom, but I'm not sure about the mid and neck yet. It's hard to pick between the Fralins, Surfer's and Texas Hots.

yup that callaham block is way heavier than the stock zinc thing that comes in there. check the pots before you toss em, my mexi came with cts pots and a crl switch.

That is a beauty! Fender has been making some damn fine guitars this decade. Treat her well and she will never let you down!

And your instincts with the .10's are good. I still don't know why they put the .9's on their guitars stock - they all sound 100 times better with .10's. I actually have .11's on my USA Strat, and it sounds HUGE!!! Bends aren't as hard as I assumed they would be either. I am thinking of putting .11's on all my Fenders now.

My standard Tele came with them as well, so I may be in luck with the strat too.

I've actually done everything you're planning to my MIM except the Callaham....which is on deck!

Looks like a good guitar,i love strats.I never really thought that sunburst strats looked right with a bucker in the bridge but hey,whatever does it for ya!!
