Hey pickup soldiers!

I have a question: I'm building (re-building is more like it) a Strat. In it I'll put either a Little '59 in the bridge, or a JB Jr., and then two Duckbuckers in the middle and the neck positions. I already have the Duckbuckers so I might as well use them. They DO sound very good. But they are very low-output / low voltage, so which one of my two options (little '59 or JB Jr.) will work the best in the bridge?

Thank you so much! I totally don't know sh*t about this!

Hey buddy! Jennifer Batton uses the Duckbuckers, but I think she uses a Hot Rails for the bridge pickup. That might be worth checking out...she gets a pretty good sound.

I always found the JB JR to be a little darker than I prefer so I used to use a neck model JB JR. as the bridge pickup in my Strat with SSL-1 neck and middle pickups. I like that set up alot!

The Little 59 is going to be a little brighter and slightly lower in output than the JB JR bridge model from what I understand ( kind of similar to using the JB JR. neck model as a bridge pickup ) although I've never tried them both in the same guitar to compare them.

I'd be tempted to try Jennifer's set up: two Duckbuckers and a Hot Rails.

I use a lil 59, and it's nice. tight and not too bright. The output is a bit lower than the JB, so might match (output wise) better with you ducks. Hmmm, cool rails?

Cool! Thanks! Duckbuckers are VERY low output, so I think I'll do the '59.

Jennifer Batten uses a JB jr in the bridge.

JB JR? OK...thanks!

So she uses a apir of Duckbuckers and a JB JR.

yeah, Jennifer uses 2 duckbuckers (yes, they do sound good BTW), and a JB Jr...and it is a good set up. I think you would like either just fine.

I think before any of that, I'd just get an HSS pickguard and drop a TB-59 next to those Duckbuckers. Just my 2 cents. I guess I like mini humbuckers for neck/middle, but still stand by fullsize hums for bridges.

I have a lil 59 in my strat and it is a pretty awesome pup. I can get a nice, big rock tone out of my strat now. Much improved over the stock single coil...

Mike

I put a bridge l'59er on my strat; liked it so much i replaced the other two pickups a few weeks later. no regrets. had it like that for five years now.
