I'm seriously considering trading my Boogie for a DRRI. I don't care for the overdrive tone on my Boogie anymore and I'm leaning toward the Fender. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated

I'm not familiar with the F-50, but there are certainly plenty of fans of the DRRI, including me.

it's a very versatile amp, but at 22 watts, some will find it marginal for some gigs

i felt like their was always a pushed sound with the drive channel of those F series....i know it takes time to dial in Mesas according to everybody, but i've never been able to dial in a good drive sound with them....the clean channel sounded pretty good though, not really my type of clean though

the Deluxe Reverb is a more comfortable amp for me, and its hard to not dial in a good tone....its just plug in and crank it up, and make it overdriven or clean with the volume knob....it still sounds pretty big, but its not as loud as the F30......

Other ones to consider would be the Fender Pro Tube Series, like the Concert and Pro.
You'll get more versatility, better tone, and the clean channels on them sound every bit as good as the Reissue series. They have deeper cabs, so they push better lows than the Reissues. The depreciation on them was pretty big, so you can get a $1300 amp for $700-$800. I had the Concert, and really got a lot of use out of it for a few years, but I have a feeling I'd buy the Pro, if I ever bought another one. I think of them as Fender's 'sleeper amps.'

I like the smaller size amp; weight of the Deluxe. I played through a Tremoverb for 10 years or so and loved the tone, but I hated to lug the thing from gig to gig, so I got the F-30. Although the F-30 has good cleans it hasn't got a good blues tone...too compressed.

I had an original blackface Deluxe a long time ago and had to trade it for something louder. I have plenty of P.A. now so that shouldn't be the problem it once was. I want to have the Deluxe turned up enough to just break up for a blues tone and roll the guitar down for clean.....does that sound like I'm asking too much from a DRRI?

If we're talking Fender 'sleeper amps,' from what I've heard the ProSonic is supposed to amazing. Supposedly the best drive channel from Fender ever. I love Fender amps, one of my favorite newer ones is the DRRI actually, but I'd love to give a ProSonic a test-drive if I could ever find one. It seems like it'd be a cool amp. Maybe check that out.

A Deluxe Reverb Reissue isn't the most versatile, but it does it's job very well. If I had a DRRI, I'd just have a Celestion Vin 30 or H30 and better pre tubes in it.

I bought a DRRI a few months ago and love it. My only complaint was with the low end. It 'flubbed out' a bit too quick for my liking. A Hellatone 30 from Avatar took care of that real quick as well as giving me a bit more clean headroom. Cool little amp.

don't know anything 'bout F-30, but i recently bought a DRRI and i totally dig it.my other guitarist, in the band , who has far more experience than me,says its a real good amp(he played through it),although not as good as the quot;real dealquot;.

That's exactly what I did to my two old blackface DR's. NOS tubes throughout and a Celestion G12H30 in each. I also put reverb on both channels which increased the gain of the Normal channel to equal the gain of the Vibrato/reverb channel. Then I replaced the .1 and .047 caps in the tone stack of the Normal channel with a pair of .022 Orange Drop caps...that makes it sound a little more like a plexi Marshall or '59 tweed Bassman. An easily reversed mod if you want to return it to stock again someday...but who'd want to? Sounds better that way to me and I can plug into the unmodded channel if I want the stock quot;surfer/jazz/cowboy cleanquot; tone.

A Adelux Reverb RI is a great AMp, But as Curly said it may not have enough for some larger Gigs. Bothe GJ and Lew have an answer though.... put the Vintage 30 in it and it takes care of the bottom a lot better.... I have even considered putiing a 15quot; in my '67 DR. My tech tells me it will be hard to get it to break up with that large of a speaker.

Yep...putting a highly efficient speaker like the Celestion Vintage 30 or G12H30 in a DR improves the tone, makes it alot louder and tightens up the bass a ton. Makes it sound like it picked up another 15 watts or so of output power. Highly recommended if you're going to gig with it...or even if you aren't. Lew
