With what I got saved now and monies from my upcoming graduation etc. (still 8 months), I plan on buying a 335 style semi-hollow guitar. Non Gibson, and a price range of give or take 700-1000 ballpark. Suggestions?
What are the names of the Heritage or Hamer models?
I had an Orville by Gibson 335 that was great. It might be worth looking into the Japanese 'lawsuit' guitars like the ones below.

The Hamer model is Newport . I have a Korina with Phatcats and Bigsby and a Pro with Seth lovers. Killer guitars but NOT 335 copies.
Tokai are pretty good
Check this out. There is another on the bay also.

Doesn't Yamaha have a model more or less based on the 335? They even have a model with 3 P90's. You might not like the f-holes tough... the only thing that I really hate and prevents it from being my dream guitar.
Heritage, a new one (plane jane like a 335) is just over a grand.

I've been fairly impressed with the Epiphone Sheritan model. It's a little more ornamented version of their Casino (which is also a really decent 335 style).
used heritage (model 535)
japanese made tokai
ibanez artcore (i played another this weekend in a shop and was impressed)
if you can find a preowned yamaha sa2000 (or later equivalent model) that would be sweet too
older ibanez models
good luck

Schecter Cosair with Bigsby. Beautiful guitar, she will be next after my ultracure i'm choosing here over a Epiphone335
Could get a used Guild Sarfire IV in that range.
i have never actually had my hands on an ibanez artcore. are any of those comparable to 335s?
the older artstar models were excellent. A friend of mine from school fixed up one of those and it sounds amazing, but that guy has INCREDIBLE feel and finger control. He could make a Yamaha Pacifica with year old strings sing....
Washburn makes a very nice version for around 1k. Epiphone Sheraton is pretty cool too.
Another vote for the Sheriton....and Seth Lovers. Good luck.
Yamaha SA2000 - Had mine since 1978 - Owned several LPs, strats, teles, SGs, even a Gibson 335 - No question that this guitar can run with all of them. Can have a real hard edge, fits jazz amp; blues too.
Definitely try to pick up a used Hamer Newport. They're not 335 clones. But they are very killer guitars in their own right.
if and when i ever buy a 335 type guitar i will buy one of these!!! (unless i find a real 335 for some unreal price!?)
Washburn HB-35
