So I headed to the store to night to buy a Strat... something I thought would give me the most bang for my buck and add some tonal variety beyond my semi-hollow's warm jazz sound. However, I came home with a red Fender Deluxe Nashville Tele w/Tex-Mex pups, a Vox AD30VT amp, and a pair of headphones. I got a great deal on the Tele and traded an old Tech 21 Trademark 10 for a nice chunk of cash to get the Vox.
After playing some Strats I found myself drawn to the Tele... I'm a huge fan of Billy Bragg and holding that Tele took me back to his younger years. Truthfully, I thought the Mexican Tele sounded a bit shallow compared to the American Tele (I guess no suprise there, but I wasn't willing to shell-out a grand). In fact, I had decided on a white Mex Tele but the shop keeper was in the act of helping someone else... while I was waiting another patron fired-up the Delx Nash. Tele. It was almost as if it called to me. Luckily, he put it down and I floated across the room to scoop it up. Had the keeper been available I would have left with the white Tele.
TWANG!
