My apologies if this question has already been covered in previous threads... also maybe this is a stupid question, but, here goes: Can the plastic covers on pups be removed and replaced? In other words to make a white pup black, for example. If so, how do you go about removing the plastic covers without damaging the pup, and are different colored plastic covers available for order from SD or elsewhere? Thank you.
Im 90% sure single coils can, but not humbuckers, unless they have a metal cover.
Single coils, yes, as long as the cover can be removed like on most Fenders. I say quot;mostquot; because you can't on the Lace Sensors and I think on some stock Jackson single coils, you can't remove the cover easily. For Humbuckers, of you see the coil slugs, you can't change anything there without major surgery (swapping coils themselves) but you can swap/add covers if they fit.
Yeah, that was stupid... I should have specified that I was meaning to ask about humbuckers. Single coils are easy to do. I found other sources that pretty much say it isn't possible to 'change out' the plastic visible part of the humbucker, because the bobbins are actually mounted to it. Is this the case?
