OK guys, got my hardware and my SD SH-6 and put her all together today!
..i have never played anything that feels so incredibly great!!! it doesn't weigh near as much as most LP's but it resonates better than any other axe I have right now.....
...Maybe it's the quot;mojoquot; factor of being as old as it is....i don't know.....this is the one that somebody quot;routedquot; with a hammer and chisel for a two PU config and added a quot;channelquot; and butchered the body to accept a switch where LP's have one...or simpler put, this is the one I saved from the dumpster!!!
It cost around $600 to get her restored to single PU specs with all the filling/painting that had to be done.....and I was worried it might not be really worth it in the end......I was wrong!!!!!!!!!
Blissfully yours!!!!

I would LOVE me one of those!
I always love stories of things getting brought from the dead too... reminds me of a few cars I've worked on
Gotta hear it! Gotta see it! A junior with a distortion has got to be great...

I'll post pics of it as soon as I can, but be forewarned it is purple!!!....(paint's cheap enough...) I had it painted purple since it's my female singer's favorite color and she's getting pretty good at playing, so it's hers to quot;babysitquot; for awhile.....although I'm definitely using it next weekend at the gig!!

do post pics...that sounds pretty cool!
Maybe it sounds so good because it appreciates having been quot;savedquot;.
Stranger things have happened.
A piece of wood that old can't help but sound good...
In perhaps my greatest gear acquisition ever, I was given a 56 LP Jr a few months back by my moms old boyfriend. He has had the guitar since 69 and gave it to me because he has long since quit playing. It was the first guitar I ever played. Has the original P-90 in it, which no other 90 on the planet can touch, it is spectacular. It has some vintage mods done in 70, which add to the cool vibe of it. It has a Firebird PU in the neck ( the mini bucker) which sounds fantastic!! It also has a tunomatic which replaced the original trapeze. ( also done in 70). The origi sunburst is in amazing shape. It was a hell of a gift!! Glad you feel the same thing with yours, not too many of these guys left!
I know it probably doesn't affect the tone all that much but for some reason the idea painting it purple just really bugs me gt;.lt;
Come to think of it I'd be more comfortable taking that guitar and retrofitting it with Grovers than repainting it! But hey with a guitar like that I'm sure it's the pickup thats the heart and soul of the thing.
Cool deal Jeff and you too Kev.
I have a guitar with a 54 P-90 in it and it is made from some extremely old mahogany and it just sounds amazing.
I'd love to get my hands on and old singlecut Jr., when I am done with my SG resto andaguitarIam building I think I will tackle that one,either that or an SC MM from way back when.
