I'm looking for the polepiece spacing for the following pickups:
- Strat bridge (standard and trem spacing)
- Strat middle/neck (standard and trem spacing)
- Tele neck
I'd measure these myself, but I don't the pickups.
Thanks.
On mine, string-to-string spacing is 10.5mm. Neck, middle, and bridge are the same. Thats measuring stock Squier pups and some s.
I don't think Stratocaster pickups come in tremspaced per se, but trembuckers have .414quot; pole spacing.
Edit: Just double-checked my math . . . .414quot; is 10.5mm.
Stupid question alert: Does this mean that all three pickups (bridge, middle, and neck) are interchangable? That is, do they all have the same nominal physical characteristics (mounting plates, bobbin size, pole spacing, etc.)? (I realize that bobbin size may vary slightly between different makers and models.)
That would be good news indeed; I thought that that, like the Tele, the bridge pup was different because it was mounted at an angle, which seemed to imply a longer bobbin and greater spacing.
On my couple of Strats, they are interchangeable. I believe the angle of the bridge pup on a Strat is 12 deg's. A bit of quick trig tells us that if normal E to E spacing is 52.5mm, then it increases to only 53mm for the bridge. Thats only a .1 mm/string difference.
