I came across a cheap duncan HB and did not miss the chance. The seller said it was a 59n, but as it turns out (I think) it's neither. I mean it is not a 59 and it is not a neck HB! I can say that nobody has opened it up so far. The sticky cloth tapes were (before I lifted them up to see the magnet and the spacer) were not ever liften.

Anyway, it is a duncan for sure, correct baseplate and all. But one of the former owners (I am sort of sure that it was not the guy who sold it to me) took the sign on the bottom of the pickup. So I cannot see the code for this pickup.

Nonetheless, here are some important points:

First it has an a5 magnet (black color on the magnet );
It measures 8.20K;
It has cloth tapes around the bobins (not paper !);
It has long legs;
It has a plastic spacer (not wooden);
It has no logo;
It has 4 c-wires.

I think it is a Jazz Bridge. Everything is ok but the long legs, no logo. I do not think it is a 59 because it does not have wooden spacer, and paper tapes around the bobins. It is one of the earlier Duncan's because I had to lift the tapes to see the magnet.

What would you say? Did Duncan at any point in time produce 59s with plastic spacers and cloth tapes? As far as I know the asnwer is no (since Duncan really does copy every single detail on PAFs on 59s).

BTW the insulation I think is plain enamel, the wires look really dark. They don't have that shiny look of c5s and all.

If it is a Jazz-B it would be quite cool. I never tried one, and wish to.

Sounds like a pre-'95 SH-2b Jazz Model bridge. We used the long-legged bottom plates on all humbuckers until around 1995. We've never used pastic spacers on a '59.
