What strings do you all use? I have been using Snake Oil strings for over a year and they seem to last a long time and play great. I notice how they tune up fast with little stretching and remain in good tune.
I am wondering if I could spend less and buy DM Blue Steels or GHS Boomers and have the same performance? Amyone try these strings?

i haven't given snake oils a try yet but i have used nearly everything else you can name lol. a few years back i bought a set of every string that i thought i may like and tried them all. after that quot;testquot; i realized i love d'addario strings (XL series) and that's all i use now. strings aren't too much $$ so i say buy a few different sets and try them to find what you like best since everyone has a different idea about best or favorite etc.

The only problem is I prefer a .054 for my C# and they don't carry a set like that.
I use Newtone strings. They cost a little bit more but last much longer (round cores), play smoother (they have a finer winding), have less string pull and a really nice attack compared to d'Addarios.
i use d'adarrio 10s, because they are cheap, and in my experience, last longer than ernie balls.
I use GHS Progressive Dave Mustaine Signatures! Bright sound, long lasting, work great with my floating trems. (10-52) for standard and Drop D tunings.
Rock On!
Fender Super Bullets
I usually use a .09 set, but I'm considering .10s.
DR Tite Fit 12-52
Now can we PLEASE go a week or more without another srtring guage Poll?
I use Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky's .09 gauge.

4 things:
1) Dave Mustaine. GHS. Ew. I hate the ad. quot; These strings will last longer and sound better because I said so.quot; Just my opinion.
2) In your sig it says quot;Lamb of God ~ Pure American Death Metalquot;. Are they really considered Death Metal now??
3) I use DR TiteFit. The gauge varies; right now I have 9-46, but I'm going to use 10-46 soon.
4) About the DM Blue Steels, I tried 2 different sets; a 9-46, and 10-52. Both were alright, but not my bag. GHS Boomers, I just don't like them. I don't like the feel and the tone, plus they don't last very long in my experience. My other guitarist has said he likes them and that they last long, but it's a matter of prefrence I guess. I would say try DR!
I'm starting to hate my high B and High E strings, they are WAY to thin sounding, But the rest of the gauges feel about right. Should I try 10-46's?
I buy strings in bulk, playing as much as we do, I have to change at least every two weeks. I use whatever GC has on special at the time I need to buy more, as long as they are 10-46. GHS, EB, D'adderio, whatever, doesn't seem to make that much difference to me. I will state that I prefer Fender 150xl for guitars with Floyd's as they do seem to stay in tune better than anything else I've tried, but, I presently have no guitars with a Floyd.
Currently using GHS Boomers - 9-46 on Les Pauls, 9-42 on Strat. I like Ernie Balls and Dean Markleys too.
I had a problem with D'Addario's where the ball ends on the plain strings kept coming undone - must have been a bad batch. I also don't like that D'Addario packaging where they put all the strings in one packet. I'm all in favour of environmentally friendly packaging, but it makes it difficult to find the right string in a hurry if you break one.
Maybe I'll stick with SOS.

I know, but you don't always have optimum lighting conditions for replacing a broken string.
And can you remember what color is a B, G etc... without reading the packet? OK if you're sat at home, but not good at gigs or rehearsals. Not for me anyway.
I used to use D'Addario, but now I use DR Titefit 10-46 on my strat and 11-50 on my two other guitars, and I'm probably going to go to 11s on my strat too. Amazing strings.

Do Newtone last? Are they comparable to Snake Oils?

Tip: By lightly squeezing the strings while still coiled, you can tell the relative tension of the string (compared to the others in the set, harder to squeeze = heavier), makes it possible to choose the right one with almost zero lighting if you have a full set handy.... I know it´s saved MY ass before
Elixir 10-46
Highly Recommended!
I was an Ernie Ball guy for as long as I can remember, but I was introduced to the Elixir's about a year ago. They keep that smooth feel for about four times as long as the noncoated strings (IE D'Addario, Ernie Ball, GHS). They also have a magnificent, well balanced feel. I've AB'ed all of the cheaper sets (haven't tried DR's/Snake Oil), and the Elixir's, while slightly more pricey, come out way on top.
Try Elixir brand and thank me later!
