i like the overdrive sound i have but when i go to play leads it doesnt really have any sustain. my rhythm sound is ... very light-light overdrive so i get a nice punchy attack and a quick decay so each chord is nicely definded. and when i play fast its right in your face. think intro to quot;black shuckquot; the darkness, quot;american idiotquot; green day.
i tried adding more overdrive and distortion but it wasnt really what i was looking for. so is there a pedal that will let me keep my light overdrive but sustain the crap out of my sound for leads?
i really like the sustain mike mccready had on the solo for quot;nothing as it seemsquot;
thanks,
edm
did some looking and found out he used a fuzz pedal for that solo... looks like that what im looking for... lol
anyway... any pedal that will do what im looking for?
....tried a compression sustainer?
hmm... i might have to look into that... anyone else have any tips?
what amp do you use right now?
fender vibro-champ
Try using an overdrive pedal as a clean boost. Something like a Boss SD-1 or an Ibanez tube screamer.
Set the level up high enough to boost the signal and keep the gain low enough so no more overdrive is added.
My answer to everything these days is 'get a Fulltone OCD!'
