I'm just curious, after i asked how the hotrails neck does sound splitted, i just like to know how the Cool Rails sounds in splitted mode.
Would it be too weak in comparison to a vintage single-coil, or it would it have enough output.
Some say that the Coolrails sounds between Paf and single-Coil, that's how i would describe the Stag Mag! (which i love as a neck pickup)
From its specs it looks close to the Quarter Pounder, which i don't like at the neck position.
A little thin, but very good at the same time.
Hmm i don't really know but I'd expect that, because of the high output of the ceramic magnet compared to the quite low output of vintage SCs it should be strong enough even in split mode...
The reason i asked, is because i'd like to have a neck pickup (or neck amp; middle pickups) with the option to split it for a single-coil mode
For a guitar routed H-S-S-, maybe i'm gonna put cool or hotrails there, and maybe 3 Humbuckers or H-S-H.
Hotrails or coolrails at neck amp; coolrails or SSL-1 (or vintage rails) at middle.
If the coolrails matches well with a single-coil, so i would split it and would have no hum at pos. #4.
Or i would not split it and use it with a vintage rails.
Another option would be hot and coolrails and split both pickups at this position.
I'll get an used coolrails in a few days, then i will see it.
Just would like to know what i have to expect.
