I forgot a few things last time I posted this one.
After sanding and prep spread some patches of wood filler thinly over the body and sand level.
Load a spray bottle with a metallic or pearl paint and let er rip.Hose the body down, make sure that you have a lot of plastic laid out and are wearing gloves as this is a messy one.
You also want the body to be hanging, gravity will help out a lot.
Let fully dry,sand lightly-say 280-and go again.
The wood filler absorbs the paint differently than the rest, this will give you a multi level look.
For a hammered look use a rag and dab the the body while the paint is still wet. This requires a lot more levels, but looks cool.
This shot is an SG style that is ready for the airbrush.
On this one I'm using Createx Auto Air Metallic black.
While the surface looks like it's all uneven it is actually level and ready for clear.
One last tip-make sure that the bottle you use for your painting isn't your wife's plant misting bottle-ooops

Great idea, JJ, thanks for sharing....

BTW, I was actually wondering if you were sick or someting, no mishaps or anything...Until I read this:

Very cool. Approximately how long did it take you to do this?

It does take a day or two because the paint is thinned,so you do have to do a bunch of coats.Plus the dryibg time is a little longer.
