I'd appreciate it if some one could point towards some resources about tube amps. I'm talking about the really basic stuff - like what's the difference between a 12AX7A and a 12XA7 or between an EL34 and an EL84 or a 5881 or a 6V6. And maufacturers like Slovtek or Groove Tubes or Eurotubes, ad inifinitum.

The Tube AMp Book by Aspen Pittman is also a great source of info... Together with the Guitar Player Repair Guide by Dan Erlewine those are IMO the 2 books that any tech MUST own and ideally know by heart

Aiken Amps has a good tech section
