I sold it about a month ago and went digital, well I think my honeymoon period is over with the new equipment and I want to go back to tubes.

Man, somebody got a good deal on that amp. I had it upgraded with JJ's and Eminence's and am kicking myself! Oh well, live and learn. I saw that Traynor came out with an EL34 version with a Vintage 30 in it so I'm thinking of grabbing one of those or a Crate V-Series 3112.

Oh well, just ranting-had to get it off my chest. GEAR! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That sucks! I always have had that fear when I sell equipment, but I've been lucky so far. Sometimes I do wonder if I should've kept that Single Rec for a little longer..............

I have until the 28th to send it all back (Atomic, POD XTL) so I think I'll be heading to the UPS store tomorrow. The POD sounds awesome in stereo thru headphones but I just can't go head over heels with the sound thru the amp. It's pretty much overkill anyway, I realize I just need a simple setup.

On second thought, maybe I'll keep the XTL as an effects board and get a 30-50 watt tube combo.....oh, the choices.............

Well the XT and Atomic together should fetch enough cash to pay for a new amp, right? Not too much of a loss, and you learned a lesson!

Tubes gt; everything.

I'd say go for a Crate V Series.

Just learning about that kind of situation in class. It's called cognitive dissonance. Everyone gets it. Your spend a chunk of change and you love what you get for a while, then you start thinking about it and you start liking it less and finding things wrong with it, ect.

Just give it a while before you decide to buy a new amp. Your feeling may pass. Also, good luck with your amp.

yea i almost felt this about my deluxe strat...until i put surfers in it! I haven't found anything wrong with its tone and it's been 8 months!

One thing I learned years ago, is that it's best to front the money for the new gear, then sell the old stuff. If your new purchase doesn't exceed the old gear, then you know what you've got to do. Cognitive Dissonance.....never heard of that, but I'll remember it now. Everyone's done it. I sold a 87 Silver Jubilee 2555 head to buy a Randall HD-120 head one time. Man, was I pissed when I began hating the Randall!

I'm framing it as a positive now. Just came back from the UPS store - shipped back the Atomic- (by the way, much of the problem stems from certain gear not being available to try out first so you order it without really knowing what to expect) and the 80 watt Traynor was a little too much for my needs so I'll look for a 15-40 watt tube combo (Traynor 20 or 40, Crate V-Series 15 or 30, Peavey Classic 30, Ampeg J12T..... more choices!)
