I found out from the luthier today that he's going to cut the neck and body this week, and that he'll get the body out to be clear coated and the neck to his fret man by this weekend. They should be back to him by the following weekend, and ready to ship out to me to assemble the rest. That's great news, as I had expected a mid-June delivery as opposed to May.

That's great! I am thinking I will try a building project of my own. There is a luthier's supplier near me that will do some basic woodwork on request, and I will order a Parker bolt-on neck, which I hear are great. A little trembucker here, a little frankenstrat there, and presto ! Yours sounds a little more pro. Let us know when it comes in.

Definitely man. All I'll have to do when I get the body and neck is bevel and dress the fret ends, then drop in all the parts/hardware. He's applying the clear to the body, and doing an oil/wax finish on the back of the neck.

You don't have much work left. Just a little time. Can't wait for the pics.

Nope, not much left at all, it's mainly down to waiting (the hardest part ). Hopefully it will be well worth it.

Im doing my first project and its going well.I just finished with the sanding sealer and primer coats.I was pleased to see no flaws when the primer was applied.Im going to attempt to do a Charvel bengal desighn.I was thinking of of course yellow and black.I was thinking using 3M automotive blue adesive tape to mask the guitar, draw the desighn and cut with an E-XCTO knife to cut out the desighn. After the body is painted yellow tape it cut the desighn then put on about 4 coats of black.Sit for about 2 weeks then spray about 15-20 coats of clear. Let cure for 2 mo. Use 600 grit wet dry and then 1200 grit finally 2000 grit and then use a rubbing compound to buff the scratches.Any tips this is my one way I think best results could be achieved,Im using Guitar Reranch products.Any advise wld be cool.

I am reading about a product called KMT-9 for the surface. It is water based and non-toxic; it sounds really great. This and more information can be found at from : localhost/Let us know !

I don't have any advice (except to take your time and don't rush it to make sure it's perfect), but that sounds like an awesome project. I was thinking of having somewhere else do a bengal tiger paint job. Post pictures when it's done!

There are some forums on the Reranch website, and there are some SUPER helpful guys there. When I had finishing questions, that's where I went and I was not disappointed.

A.J.,

Hey old friend! I just visited your website and read all the details about your Strat project! Absolutely incredible!!! It almost (but not quite) makes me wanna join the ranks of quot;do-it-yourselfersquot;, as that guitar of yours is one of the nicest Strats ever! I'm not flaming quot;you know whoquot; at another site...but I think I'd take one of yours over a quot;villequot; any day! It looks like perfection! Might be interesting to have you quote some sort of price if you thought that might interest you?

On my ened, I'm still playing my Fernandes, but I finally replaced my Zoom GFX707 multi-effects pedal (the input jack starting shorting out). So, um....guess what I got? LOL, yep! The Zoom GFX5! I love it! You can hear it over in the clips section on the quot;Gambale Jamquot; that someone over at G.com posted.

Anyway, wanted to say hi....and commend you on the fantastic job you've done on your Strat! Great, great job!

Dave
