Guys, my cousin called me up yesterday and asked me what the best way was to power his pedals. I think he's using 5 or 6, and he's getting tired of changing batteries. He also doesn't want to buy six power supplies and bother with pugging them in each time he sets up at a gig. I don't really have much gigging experience and I have even less experience with pedals, so I figured I'd ask y'all. I seem to remember seeing a single power supply with several leads, but I think it was pretty expensive.

So, does anyone know of any good products he can use or something he can build to take care of this? What do you use to power your pedals?

I use a Boss PSM5 from : localhost/they're discotinued you can pick them up on ebay. Another alternative is to use a Boss Line selector to do the same thing

First off, what brand of pedals are they? What's their individual power consumption requirements? Do they all use the same type of power plug and polarity?

The best way, once you know the above, will be a power supply chain. The Dunlop DC Brick is pretty good. There are others out there like that as well.

There are a crapload of DIY power supplies for pedalboards out there, one of them is on General Guitar Gadgets and another at GEOFX.

Since I use only 3 pedals in my effects loop right now, and they're all BOSS, I use a PSA-120T with the daisy chain that comes with the BCB-3 pedal board. My only in-line pedal is my booster and I didn't put a DC jack in it when I built it (didn't have any). It's really good on batteries so it's no big deal for that one.

Thanks guys.

Erik, I don't know for sure what all he's using. It's been a while since I've seen his setup, so he's probably changed it since then. I'll let him know about all these, though.

Anyone else?

I used to use a RadioShack adapter (with enough mAmps to handle the pedals) and daisy-chained Ibanez 'Y' connectors. Worked great, and cost me less than $20 total. I ran a Visual Volume, Crybaby, Dynacomp, Tubescreamer (TS9), and a DOD Chorus pedal with it.

Of course, I had to solder on a couple of mini plugs for the pedals requiring them.

Dunlop quot;Brickquot;, it will power almost everything and reasonably priced to boot.

1 to the dunlop brick. I've heard great things about the godlyke power-all, visual sound 1spot(i've got this, works great), and vodoo labs pedal power II.

Can the brick power the big line6 pedals?

I believe it does (6) nine volt and (3) 18 volt units. I have one and its very quiet amp; reliable.

It does include the daisy chains too, right?

Visual Sounds One Spot is the quietest 9v AC adapter I've ever used. They often sell it with a 5 or 6 spot daisy chain on Musician's Friend for a great price. I'll go look for it.

Mine did but that was a couple of years ago.

Y'all are tons of help. I'll get this list to him today and let him decide. Thanks a bunch.
