Hi woodworkers,
I own a beautiful Epi Emporer Regent with floating PU. Is it possible to cut/route the holes for normal PUs into the top without damaging the finish? Should I carry her to a guitar-maker to do this job?
What do you estimate would this operation cost (only cutting holes for PUs and pots - I would attach and wire it on my own)?
Thanks, Chris
I think that you should take it to a pro, cutting into a top like that requires careful use of tools to do it right.
I agree with John John on this one. It may even require very special tooling to get the job done. Is it an arch top?
yeah...what they said lol...seriously i woulnd't try that yourself...better to pay to have a pro do it than smack yourself when the finish chips or you scratch it etc.

That model is arched,I can't remember if it has a center block,If it doesn't it'll need a support piece,(kinda like a bridge plate),under the top or it could tear out.
