My matching Vox AD 2x12 cab I use with my Valvetronix 120 head has the Celestion Neodyium speakers that I'm replacing...I Love V30s and these Neo-Dogs I feel are too tight and too bright and lacks the correct feel I need from my cab and speakers...

I'll be putting these Neo speakers up for sale pretty soon....They are 8 ohms each...Others might love them, but I can't say that I do...

Interesting, I had heard nothing but good about matching them with the VTs. How's the build quality of the AD cab, by the way?

The build quality is real nice...I think it's birch, but I'm not sure? This was a pricey cabinet also! Maybe because these 2 Celestion Neo speakers are so pricey?
quot;Housed in classic Vox style with deep blue grille cloth and gold piping. Constructed from Baltic birch for structural integrity, it has 2 custom-voiced 12quot; Celestion quot;Neo-Dogquot; speakers created specifically for the Valvetronix cabinet. Co-designed by Vox and Celestion, these speakers utilize a highly efficient, ultralightweight neodymium magnet for accurate and powerful sound. Operates in mono at 4 or 16 ohms and in stereo at 8 ohms. Casters not included.

Baltic birch construction

I've never understood the concept of using flat sounding speakers with modeling amps. They try to explain it, but it still doesn't make sense to me.

A modeling amp puts out a sound that is trying it's best to emulate a tube amp.
Therefore, you should use the same speakers you'd use with a tube amp, right?
They say no, but I don't get it. All I know is my Vox modeler sounds best on my Marshall straight 4-12 w/G-75's on bottom and V30's on top. The Line 6 cabs sound like $200 Behringer cabs, to me.

i think the logic is that modellers put out what you'd hear on a record - as such, the signal hitting the speakers is already emulating a cab (and sometimes mic)..

as such, you don't want the sound of two cab 'emulations' going at the same time (even though one is real).. thus, use a flat-EQ speaker to just reproduce the sound, but louder

tom

Gearjonser, the funny thing is that I believe the custom designed Celestions that Line 6 used are designed to be similar to Vintage 30s. I seem to recall reading somewhere on their website that if you don't use their cabs, they recomend a cab with quot;Celestion Vintage 30s or somethign similar.quot;

Or maybe I'm making that up.

1. This is also why I don't like modellers much. I want to hear what would come out of a guitar amp, not what you would hear on a record.

Like any amp you'd ever buy,you have to consider everything in the chain, like the speakers, guitar, effects used etc....I Love the Valvetronix head but I wasn't happy with the stock Celestions in the matching Vox cab....This cab and speakers were voiced for the VTX 60 and 120,but my ears told me I needed other speakers...

I own quite a few great old vintage amps(Marshall,Fender)but I mainly use my Vox head....There's a reason for this?

Just got a V30 from Jeff_H and put it in my Laney. Man...THAT'S THE SOUND!
I've been hearing in my head. Nice mid range crunch. Not boomy and no Upper mid spike's like the G70M's I had in it. I hooked up the speaker in my HRD(stock Emi F.S.D.125) with the Laney and they work perfect together.
Sonic Bliss.

Vintage 30s are great speakers! I'm really wanting to try the G12H-30s also.

Yeah, from the sound clips on Celestion's website the G12H-30 sounds like another great one. Has anybody done a A/B shoot out with the Eminence Wizard? They claim it's their take on a G12H-30.

I like some of the Eminence speakers, but pretty much it's the Celestions for me for the heavier stuff and Webers in my BF Fender amps..

If you're in the mood for a tone change from the two V30's, grab a g12h30 and put it in there with one of your v30's. One of the most popular and best sounding speaker combinations.

Yes...I tryed doing that but Sam Ash didn't stock the G12H-30s.....Maybe down the road I'll grab one off E Bay to try out...I can always either sell or keep a Vintage 30...My head is 60 watts per side and I got to thinkin that I was probably better and safer sticking with the 2 V30s...I crank this Valvetronix up pretty loud at practice and gigs!
