Well, I've got a great Agile AL-2500 LP copy (mahogany body, set maple neck with rosewood fretboard)

Right now I've got a Dimarzio Super 3 in the bridge and a GFS Fat PAF in the neck.

I'm loving the Fat PAF, but the Super 3 is leaving me wanting. It's certainly got enough push (it's a 24k pup with a ceramic magnet, for god's sake) but to my ears, it sounds like it's all mids, which leaves it sounding somewhat weak (especially compared to the boosted bass and low-mids of the Fat PAF.)

So I guess I'm looking for something with less mids, and more bass. I'm thinking maybe a Custom 5? Come xmas I'll have a floyded super strat for metal and the like, so this will be my 'vintage hot' sort of guitar. What do you all think?

I think the C5 is what you want.

The C5 or any of the Customs will give you a fuller more vintage sound than what you have now ,I think you'll like it alot

I've tried a custom LP with a C5. The cleans weren't very nice but it sounded great with hard overdrive -- heavy, relatively tight sound with some vintage feel.

I'd say C-5, but since I don't know if there's any phase issues between GFS and Duncan, I'd also suggest finding the matching bridge pickup from GFS.....Hot PAF bridge? It sounds like you prefer Alnico 5. I tend to go for Alnico 5 too.

Custom 8

The C-5 has gorgeous cleans - go for it!

If you want beefier - go Rio grande BBQ - my all time favorite.

Well, they're both 4-conductor, so wouldn't it just be a matter of swapping a few leads? I've installed a handful of pickups, but never anything where I had to deal with phase issues.

Also...Are there phase issues between Duncan and Dimarzio? Cause right now one of my favorite sounds on this guitar is both pickups combined, and it doesn't sound out of phase to me.

Swap the hot and ground leads and the GFS should play nice with a Duncan (I think...). The red and white wires are also backwards from a Duncan, but I'm not sure how that might come into play. Perhaps if you were splitting and wanted the two split pups to combine for humcancelling? Maybe...I'm not too bright on that stuff.
