Hey all.
I hear that a lot of people say the C5 is a lot like the 59 but with higher output.
How accurate is this assumption?
Is the 59 as warm and have as tight a bottom as the C5?
I've never had a 59b in anything, so I'd appretiate your opinions.
The C5 has smoother highs and more bass. That can be good or bad, depending on your style. The 59 is somewhat transparent, but edgy. It's very pure and I love the attitude and punch that it has. The C5 is a bit smoother.
To me the C5 has more of a compressed sound to it. The 59 is more open, the instrument seems to quot;breathequot;. I prefer the 59 to the C5
Cool, thanks gentlemen.
I was just playing my Hamer with a C5 and my LP with a PG at the bridge. Your comparisons were pretty similar to what I was just hearing.
Have you guys heard the PG ? How does it compare to the 59?
Thanks.
If a 59 was a nicely EQ'd and pleasant sounding stereo, the C-5 would be like pushing the bass boost button. That's what it sounds like when you alternate between two Pauls....a 59 in one, and C-5 in the other.
