that costs less that a small mint!

I would LOVE to get a Fulltone tape delay, but that is simply out of the question seeing that I rarely use delay. I really want that nasty, muffled delay tone from the old days! So, bring them on...what would you guys get???

I have a Dan-Echo that will do what you described nicely... It's a digital pedal but it sounds totally analog and that cool quot;hi-cutquot; switch will muffle up the repeats a bit. It's quite a nice pedal... completely different from those plastic toys they crank out now.

There's also this one... and it's a lot of fun too! from : localhost/cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

I love my Line 6 DL4. It'll do what you want it to do and then some. I paid $150 for mine, if I remember correctly.

I say the Line6, which is digital, and you can make it as grungy as you want. There is EQ on the delay itself, as well as modulation, so you can sound like a brand new tape echo, as well as one that is 30 years old with the same tape. You also have the option of true bypass and non-true bypass (I use non)...and 28 seconds of looping time.

anybody else???

I have been through 8 delays pedals over the last couple of years, and currently own 5, as i love messing around with delay. The one that by far gives the most wonderful tape-delay type tone is the Hughes and Kettner Replex. It isnt cheap, by on ebay you can usually get a great deal on them. It is bascially a tube driven delay and reverb unit. Its actually digital (no tape in sight) by the tones are stunningly authentic. It is basically trying to copy the echoplex tone, but without all the hassles you get from using real tape delays.

Without trying to offend (and i knows its all very subjective) the tape delay models/presets on most digital delay pedals e.g boss dd20, line 6 etc are awful and simply consist of reducing the treble a bit. The Replex does so much more than this, and it really sounds so convincing.

LOL ... I was thinking of the Tube Tape Echo when I saw the name of this thread

I belive Soldano has something called the Space Echo; don't know how much it costs, but it looks real purdy!

Chandler gives a nice delay

ok...I really want an echoplex but, $$$...I don't want a digital echo or a Line 6, I want an analog delay...

Arion SAD1. Awesome analog tone and can be had for lt;$100

Did you look at the Rocktron Short Timer? It's digital, but designed to immitate anlog. And, it's REALLY cheap. True analog delays are getting harder to come by.

If you can track down one of those OLD Ibanez rack units, the ones with the umbilical for the 'foot switch', they have a very good analog delay. I have one that has analog chorus, analog delay, parametric EQ, and compression on it.

They seem to be hard to find these days, but the best delay tones that I EVER got were the result of a Roland 501 Space Echo, run through the effects loop. I should have hung onto that puppy. It was amazing. It was like this one...

There are other models that are good, too; the 301, for instance, but the 501 just had that kind of snarky tone to it...

I actually had 2 of them, one for my quot;dirtyquot; amp and one for my quot;cleanquot; amp. The 501 was definitely the better of the two units. To this day, I'm not sure why I got rid of them. I certainly didn't need the cash at the time.

1 for the Arion sad1 delay.

I had a Line 6 DM4 and a/b both. I still have the sad1 and sold the DM4

danelectro reel tape echo

honestly I'm 100% satisfied with my little $30 dano BLT, its real simple, and if you're real picky i wouldn't reccomend it, but i like it
