I need a new guitar like I need a hole in the head but G.A.S. attacked when I saw this normally $599 guitar for $299. Stock s, graphite nut, locking tuners, I couldn't resist. from : localhost/www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/511333/

Actually that seems like quite an amazing deal for that price. Good job on letting GAS get the better of you

Those guitars are sweet. I wish you good luck in your dealings with musicians friend though(no sarcasim)

Link doesn't work for me. Someone tell me what he got!

a fender showmaster blackout HH model.

ooh, very cool. Great buy! Closeout price or blem?

wow, I played the regular showmaster models and they feel REALLY GOOD! The neck and body shape is very comfortable and easy to play. I was kind of turned onto them too. Let me know how it is when you get it.

I can't believe they dropped this thing to $299. They were even good enough to give me $50 credit since I just paid $349 which I thought was a steal. If the lack of fretboard markings is a concern for some, they're marked on the side and you'll quickly adapt . My Iommi has no fretboard markings past the 12th fret and it's no problem.

Congrats on the expansion of your family, Steve.

showmasters rock, I have GAS for one I played in a show with flame finish and 3 duncan singles. it was sweet.

Oh just so you know the price just dropped to $300 and there's a special offer of $50 off all fenders from the mailing list they have. Just give them a call for a price match and ask for the $50 off offer they have. This makes the guitar cost about $249, cheaper than a standard, but all the pluses of duncan pickups. Considering the duncan pickups the guitar really only costs $100. This makes this guitar a awesome buy.

That is a cool guitar, and coming stock with the pups is a big bonus. That's a rippin' deal that I might just jump on myself. I just checked the MSRP price list at Fender.Com and it is listed at $899.99.
Good find!

I think I'm gonna try to pick one up Ultimate heavy metal guitar, lol.

Well, my wife missed the UPS truck today (don't get me started!) so I'll be driving over to their hub to pick up the Showmaster tonight. I'll let you know what my first impressions are.

please do, I may buy one.

Me likey! I love the 'C' shaped Fender necks. This one is more of a C clamp shape-flattens out in the back. It's a very fast, comfortable neck. The fret edges are pretty smooth. I'm a better player on this guitar than on my Epi Iommi. I was surprised to see that the tremolo floats. I just figured it would be against the body like a Strat. The body isn't recessed so you can't pull up too far like a Floyd Rose but it does float. Seems to stay in tune pretty well.

The pickups sound great, of course, although I'm not sure which is the '59 and which is the PG . Fender says the '59 is the bridge and MF says the PG is the bridge but I would assume Fender would be correct. I always equated easy pinch harmonics with hotter p/ups but they're easy with this bridge p/up.

The guitar is Korean made so the parts aren't top of the line (except the s!), I think the volume and tone knobs are a hard plastic, but this is a nice guitar, especially @ $299. The SD p/ups, locking tuners and graphite nut make this stand out from alot of the other imports. She's a keeper!

P.S. I had black on my fingertips after playing it. I don't know if it was from the fretboard or cheap strings. Hopefully a string change will fix that.

ugh i saw those too... i wish i just had an extra 350 laying around... haha im goin to a local store tomorrow, might find a jem u never know.. congrats on it tho

I'd say unplayed nickel strings... many tend to color your fingers when they are quite new...

This one is also on sale for the same price.

I'd go with what fender says on their site, 59 bridge and pg for the neck. I'm SO tempted to buy one..... I'd probably put the PG in the neck, something else in the bridge (JB probably or CC) and replace the tuners with locking tuners. So I'd do some upgrade work! But still a great price for a nice guitar.
