I'm starting to dig these guitars...I've been cranking Mountain all day and Leslie West can kill on one of these!!
I know this guitar has an amazing rep for kick-ass r 'n r tones, but I'm wondering if it can do much more than that since it only has one P90 pup. How are the cleans? Is there a wide tonal palette by rolling the knobs around? The one thing I like about my current P90 PRS Soapbar SE II is that with a bridge and neck pup it does clean, dirty and a cool jazz vibe in the neck with the tone pup rolled back. I'm questioning whether a 1-pup gtr could do that.
With good pots and caps, it's a surprisingly versatile guitar. Mine gets really, really FAT when I roll the tone knob down. The cleans are great, too.

Don't forget you can still get them used with 2 p90s.

Do you have a vintage or a newer model?
I have the Historic TV Junior, maybe from 2003.
I have a '56(vintage) which has a SD Sh-6 in it....(basically, saved it from the quot;dumpsterquot; no hardware, no PU) It plays better than almost anything else I own. I'm not a big fan of P-90's, but the way mine is setup...(full HB or tapped HB) with a quot;no loadquot; tone pot makes it quite versatile!

The cleans are VERY nice on a Junior. Very full, and piano like with just enough glassiness to be very expressive. The P-90 does compress a lot under gain, but clean it stays more open. Juniors are also very sensitive to where you pluck the string. You won't get actual neck pickup sounds, but between the tone control, my type of picking attack and the position of my picking attack, I can get all the different sounds I need. As soon as I get my recording situation figured out, I'll post some clean/overdrive/fuzz clips

Zakkly..thats the really cool thing about P90s...and mini humbuckers to a somewhat lesser extent...they are just much more responsive to picking dynamics (IME) and vol/tone changes than reg humbuckers or fender type single coils...

P-90s are probably the most responsive pickups- you can really dig and or really lay off and it comes out.

Why am I never the guy to find a guitar in the dumpster? I had a friend that found a 67 ES-345 with Bigsby in the dumpster- the neck had a break. The repair cost him about $100. All the hardware, the pickups and the Bigsby were completely intact. Someone broke their guitar and threw it out in the bar's dumpster in a hissy fit. The kicker is the guy's a drummer and couldn't play guitar for anything.
