i am getting back to passives on one of my guitars and i am searching for a JB trembucker or a distortion (tb6) pickup on ebay.............almost ALL of them are black... i thought stratocasters are the most common guitars on the planet and they usually come with a white pickguard .........do you really prefer the ugly combination black pickup-white pickguard or the reason i can only find black duncans is that they are being used mostly by gibson players?

I think most strat players use single coils

The JBs also come standard in many Jackson models as well as other brands. Black pups usually look better on those.

Try a zebra -- I think they look cool in anything but certainly against a white pickguard. Plenty o' flair and attitude...

Neither... if you´ve ever looked, most strats are S-S-S, meaning that most strat players that want a humbucking will either

a) have to have it routed, and will then almost certainly order a white pickup to match (meaning also it´s probably going nowhere)
b) Grab a Lil series or other stacked humbucker.....

And if you look on ebay, you´ll see that a large amount of there ARE white... Why rout your strat out or buy a new picklguard for 20#8364; when you can spend 10#8364; more on the pickup and have something that sounds good AND matches cosmetically AND doesn´t devalue the instrument?

If you HAVE to have one used, you may well be forced to take black... if you buy one new, you have a few more choices.

IMHO, white pickups in a white guitar (or white pickguard) are ugly.

i like funky colors so the usual all white or black pups dont cut it.
anyway i think white pup and white pickguard is pretty ugly as well....black pup white pickguard looks ok.
