ok..my amp was fine until today..

i plugged it in..adjusted the preamp gain to full..and the master to 2.(out of 10)

normally, i would have gotten plenty of gain, but today there was no distortion to be found..there was only clean
i turned the master to 0, and there was sound to be heard, normally there would be a noticeable amount of volume.

i checked all the tubes..they were all glowing orange..swapped the position of the preamp tubes...nothing happened

what could be the problem? bad power tubes? preamp tubes?

Sounds like bad power tubes or a bad cable. Try other cables. Unfortunately, it's usually something simple.

hmmm..tried other cables..that doesn't seem to be the culprit...

Benji, like DeadSkinSlayer said it is likely something simple.

I have never had to replace fuses on mine. Not sure if that is it anyway.

I would try a few other preamp tubes in it.

Try replacing the tube furthest from the power tubes. The preamp tubes are the smaller ones. The spot furthest from the bigger power tubes is called quot;V1quot;. Try replacing that one and the next inline called quot;V2quot;.

Now, I usually do this with the amp upside down, (and off), so I can see the tube sockets. The tube sockets are a bit finicky, so don't spin the tube to try to seat it. Make sure you can see where the pins are going so you can push the tube straight in.

Strike a chord with the guitar plugged in. Turn the gain knob on the amp.

Do you hear any noises at all? Any change? Are you in the input marked quot;highquot;?

Wiggle the cord in the amps input jack. If the jack is PC mounted you may have popped a solder joint. Listen for the level to go in and out.

Try a different cable.

Try a different guitar.

ok

-tried a diff. cable- not the culprit
-switched preamp tubes again- gain is now present at master volumes of one and up(wonder why it didn't work before when i swapped it)

one problem..with the preamp gain up full and the master on zero, there is still supposed to be a noticeable volume in sound, but there isn't..

but all the tubes are glowing orange...

there is no crackling sound anywhere..

bump

second bump..i have the gain back but something's weird with the master volume control..normally, if i had the preamp gain maxed and the master on zero, there would still be noticeable volume..however, there isn't..cable's not the culprit..tried my setup with and without effects..no problem there..all the tubes are glowing orange..seems to be fine..

How long have you had the amp? New power tubes maybe? I dunno.

Just because a tube glows does not mean it's operating properly.

At least 90% of the problems with tube amps are related to the tubes.

If you can't figure it out, get it benched.
