Does it look funny or awkward? Show me, please, I’m not having an easy time finding pics of it.
I remember seeing a tune-o-matic on a tele on a web
once and it seemed to me a wee bit out of place.
I don't have th epicture but you can give a try on the
link below, design a tele w/ a tune-o-matic and coloring
scheme you fancy. It will give you an idea of what it loks like.

Seymour has a Stop bar and tune-o-matic on his Tele-Gib...there are pics of it on this forum.
This is a Strat, but a pretty interesting photo anyway:
lol...i sooo want that neck!
i thought seymour sawed his tele bridge in half on the tele-gib. btw, you will need to factor in a neck angle if you decide to use a stp/t-o-m bridge. either that or recess the t-o-m similar to what carvin and godin does on their guitars.
I like the look for that strat, go jerry garcia.
1 on beware of the neck angle, and also string height at the bridge. I'm still working out some neck/bridge location problems with a carved tele-style top and a quot;24-3/4 conversionquot; neck.
Here's some pics:Personally, I've always thought that the flat bottom/end of a Tele body didn't leave enough visual space for a T.O.M. bridge amp; tailpiece. Now, a Bigsby looks quot;juuuuust right!quot; to my eyes:
Hope this helps a little.

Thanks chip. I think you may be right...the tailpiece just looks a little strangely located. Maybe a combo wrap around unit might be a little more visually appealing.
Tell me if I am deviating too much, but what are the benefits of having a tele like this? Any tonal differences?
Hey Mike -
I've always wanted to try one of these Hipshot Baby Grand bridges:Adjustable saddles, locking studs, cool looks... what more do you want? Maybe not having to mess with adding neck angle to the equations
Ooops, the first pic is from StewMac, the second from Hipshot, and those aren't the same bridge! The top of the posts and the way the string balls attach are different.Chip

I think that was one the Tele-Gib he made for Jeff Beck.
Steve Morse had a Franken-caster back before MusicMan made his Steve Morse model. It was a Tele body and a Strat neck, combined with a TOM and a trapeze tailpiece, and as many pickups as he could fit into the thing. He was using it with the Dixie Dregs and maybe part of the Steve Morse band. It was a bit of an odd looking guitar, to be sure, but he played the hell out of it!
