Hey what's up! So I got my axe back last week, and here is my review of the pickups I bought:
Hot Rails - Very good buy, good upgrade from the stock neck pu. Leads kinda burn now, I like the tone
Duncan Distortion - Good buy, but I'm a looking for something hotter. It definately retains clarity and sounds GREAT, however, I know there is something that will suit my guitar better in the bridge. I hear what people were saying in some of the reviews I read on Harmony central, this pickup DOES make your tone more 'trebly' if you've got an alder guitar. It's a great tone, but I feel kinda trapped. Like I said, I like this pickup and I do plan on keeping it.. I'll move it into the middle position and get something a bit hotter/chunkier/crunchier into the bridge position.
You are talking full-size humbuckers, right? If so, try the Custom 5. If it's still too trebly, try the Invader, which will knock down walls with its bass response.
Hmm. I'm surprised you thought the Distortion was quot;treblyquot; in an alder guitar. I had a pair in an alder bolt on superstrat and I loved them. If you're looking for something a little more bass heavy, but still hot, I would suggest the Invader. The Custom series isn't as hot as the Distortion, but I only have experience with the SH-5 Custom.
Yeah...hotter than the DD? Maybe a Bill Lawrence, Dimebucker, or something with an EMG PA-2 hooked up.

The DD is actually hotter than the Dimebucker, and has less treble. Dunno about the BL, though. The PA-2 is a really good idea, though
