I noticed at Vintage Guitar's website a blowout sale on Warrior guitars was being advertized, but can't seem to find the link anymore. Does anyone know where this sale is. Also, what's the scoop on these things?

Anyone damilliar with these?

Warrior Basses and guitars started in Chattanooga, TN; well a little south of the TN border in North GA. JD Lewis and his father Jack used to own a music store called the Sound Post in Chatt. JD started designing these basses in the late 80's. Guitars came later. I was raised going to that store and JD running me out. In those days, they didn't hardly let you even touch a guitar. Anyway, the basses and guitars are top shelf. They are all hand done with no assembly line at all. You can buy what they offer or they will make you what you want.
Thanks Butch,
I will check them out if I can find the location of that sale. It's always a little quot;iffyquot; buying a homemade guitar off somebody without knowing anything about them or even if they'll be around in a year. But I guess these guys have at least been in business for a while as a store.
Thanks again.

Rick Derringer (sp?) pimps Warrior guitars. I saw him at their booth at the Arlington Guitar Show a month ago. They seem pretty nice (although not really my thing). I think they are trying to compete with McNaught and similar brands.
IMO they look better than they sound (kinda thin IMO). As for playability, every one I've played had a neck that was just short of Ibanez skinny. I'm no fan of baseball bat necks but their standard necks are too thin for my taste.
Checked them out at LI Guitar Show and did not really like them. Overcooked in everyway.
My little sister goes (went?) to school with a kid who does inlays for them. They're purty enough, but I've never played one. The looks are a little over the top for my tastes and there's tons of competition in the overly-fancy custom guitar/bass market, but I'm sure that they're just perfect for some people.
I'm still trying to find the sale, but you guys are talking me out of even looking. Mostly I like guitars that are functional first and made well second and fancy just about last. The bit about somequot;kidquot; who does their inlay...quot; well that doesn't thrill me much. But at least they are doing their own inlay as opposed to PRS who jobs out their stuff.

PRS does their basic inlays. They farm out the fancy stuff like dragons. Can't speak for Gibby but Fender has Ron Thorn do their fancy inlays.
Warrior Guitars are pretty cool.I'm friends with Mark the president of the company. They really do make a fine instrument and they're great guys as well.I always pop by see them at NAMM every year to catch up and to try their latest axes....You really can feel the quality in their instruments....My favorite is the Isabella model. It's like a modern Les Paul but better playing.....

I spoke with the top dog of Warrior himself at a guitar show earlier this year. Played an electric and acoustic. The electrics are subjective-- beautiful, very well made-- but it's a personal thing. His acoustics are great! But as he claims, his non-locking trems CANNOT be put out of tune-- try as I did.
