Hey there! I just registered here, and I'm the very proud owner of a 1987 Charvel model 4. It's a MIJ strat (bolt on, 22 frets) with very dark rosewood fretboard (a friend of mine thought it was ebony), sharkies, pointy headstock, Floyd rose, midbooster, HSS pickup configuration, and individual pickup switches. It's my first guitar and I couldn't be happier, the neck is the most comfortable thing I have ever played and the guitar is mint aside from some scratches here and there. It's just one year younger than me so I guess it could way worse
So does anyone else here own a Charvel? Model series, toothpaste series, San Dimas?
And is it possible to upload pictures in here? Or do you need a URL first?
You can upload pics direct to the forum ass an attachment ot the post. .But most just sign up @
I own a Model 6
a quot;Surfcousticquot;
a Custom Shop Strathead Replica w/ Jackson Plate
and about half a dozen USA Jacksons.....
Ah I get it! Here's my model 4. I guess it's your 6's little sister? :P
You can't see how dark the fingerboard really is.
Nice model 6! I dig the paintjob. Those guitars are fantastic.
AH, another fan of the JT-6 trem and Jackson pickups
Well if I'm on this board, it's to replace the pickups... I am ashamed. I do like them a lot and I'll keep them, but I want more output. But for the price I paid her (250 pounds), the pickups couldn't have been better.
The JT6 is a great trem. I can't understand why people don't like it. 17 years, 7 divebombs, and it's still in tune perfectly! Weird people...
Well, an OFR iS better, but the JT-6 holds up great....
I´m assuming you want to swap the bridge? Do you know what´s in there now? Probably a J-80C, J-90 or J-90C.....
How about a 2 year old Wayne Rock Legend? It doesn't say quot;Charvelquot; on the headstock, but it is built by the man hisself, and his son, Michael.

He's still alive and making guitars!!
Sorry. Is. But he doesn't work for Charvel (well you get what I mean) anymore and he sold Charvel to Grover Jackson. So he's not as much as the man as he used to... er... ok I shut up.

HERE´S MINE
Charvel Fusion Deluxe MIJ.
Aweosme Guitar
Oh, and Here´s Davey´s Fusion Deluxe (It´s still in my possession at current, and he´s offline so he can´t post pics )
Hej zerb, dave´s Charvel has a different(more thin than mine) finish pattern than mine. did you notice that?
Hej zerberus.. what´s the history behind CHARVEL? is it some kind of EPIPHONE OR LTD ?
or?!?!!
my friends always ask me but i have nothing to say about it. cause i don´t know.
Wayne Charvel started modding, then building guitars. Then he wasn't a great business man so he sold the company to Grover... dun dun JACKSON!
Charvel was still endorsed by EVH for instance... it helped with their fame. I don't know if it happened before or after Jackson bought them.
During the 80s, Charvels were MIJ, Jacksons mostly USA... it was the cheaper side of them. Now it's the contrary hehe, Charvels are custom made guitars, Jackson more of a buyitoutofthebox company. Now with Charvel you pay 2500 dollars for a guitar but you get to chose all the options and such.
Huuuuuuuum, THANK´S
I have a 1987 Charvel but i really don't know what the model is. It has a red body, all Maple neck with a Jackson style headstock but says Charvel on it, single Jackson Humbucker, vintage style trem......
The neck shape is so amazing!!!!!!!! The huge frets on it i love. This guitar is like new except for a piece missing out of the tip of the pointy headstock. I got it for next to nothing and it rocks! I have been toying with the idea to add a Floyd but then i maybe cutting away tone that i like. The trem will not stay in tune with the pointy headstock but if i just use it without using the trem it is great. That Neck shape is my favourite i have found yet.

You know what? I have an quot;electric bluequot; charvel I bought in 1988, and while posing in front of my damn bedroom mirror as an 8th grader, I lifted the guitar over my head in a warrior-like pose, slamming the headstock into the ceiling, and chipping off the corner.
I glued it back on w/ wood glue. It rocks, although it's got an Evolution pickup in it now. I've got the vintage trem/stop tail setup, so it actually doesn't sound harsh at all.....just hard amp; aggressive.
