from : localhost/been a few years since I recorded myself singing... a lot has changed in that time. These were recorded just one or two takes each. The 'better' ones are nearer the top.
These vocals, what are they good for, if anything? My friends tell me they're good, musicians I know tell me they're not bad, but I'd rather here criticism from people who are more impartial.
Those vocals were good... but i dont know, you could use those vocals for like.... i dunno sorry... but good vocals

heh, thanks. The problem is that I can play a supportive role instrumentally in pretty much any band. But for starting my own, I'm limited by my voice in terms of what genres I can do.
ska IMHO.

Why not just find a front man/woman instead?

dude i dint mean it in a bad way. to me ska is a legitimate genre. unlike emo. lol
i've heard similar vocals in some christian rock music but i din't think that would be a very agreeable genre for you
ska would be a possibility
Pretty cool. Your style reminds me of the Smiths without the cheezy techno factor.
emo! dashboard confessional!
OH GOD NO! NO MORE EMO BANDS! PLEASE!Just the other day I was at a local music festival, 80% of the bands were emo. I can't take it anymore.
As for Ska, ska is one of the greatest genres of all time, don't make it sound bad. I reckon that voice could do Ska, which unfortunatly is a hard genre to start a band with in my opinion. I say do whatever genre you want to, and as you go around playing you will find a singer that wants to join your band that will suit that genre. Either that or if you are really desperate put an ad in some muso mag or something.

That's what my sister said. Something about quot;dip thongsquot; or something, making me sound british. She said the cure, which is close enough to the smiths.
Brit pop like Coldplay. Add heavy guitars and delay on the vocals and it could be newmetal...
Honestly dude...do your own thing, if people like it, be sure some hack rock critic will put it in it's pidgeon-hole.

Ignore the critics. My voice is not a singing voice. Hear some of the songs I do, you'll know. But every show we play, people might have a problem, but say, who cares? it works for the band.
If it works, keep it.
