Trade interest for Hamer USA Special?
Any interest in a trade for a 93 Hamer USA Special in dark cherry. Pickups upgraded to Duncan Antiquity P90, Earvana nut and Tonepros Bridge?
I think they go for $400-$500 on eBay, depending on whether it's a flametop or not, condition, etc
hard for me to say what the upgrades are worth
(i'm not near as experienced as these other guys) But I would sell the upgrades seperatly. Chances are whoever is buying your guitar doesn't want the same pickups in it that you have now... and you won't get much more out of the guitar for having upgrades. On the other hand, if I were buying a guitar, having a tonepros bridge and a bone nut (if that's what quot;Earvanaquot; is) would be a plus for me. But I would definetly put the stock pickups back in and sell the Duncans seperatly...
Just a word of warning, '93 Hamers are notorious for having pencil thin necks. Unless you like really thin necks, you'd be much better off with a newer model. Hamer began moving to a new neck profile in '94, so they were all over the place that year in terms of thickness. Most of the '95 and newer Hamers have thicker profiles. I got lucky and found a beautiful '94 with a fairly thick neck, but I've heard that other '94 models had the thin necks as well.

By the way, those Earvana nuts are awesome. Most definitely not a cheap gimmick. I have them on my Strat and my Hamer and I'm amazed at the difference in intonation. I'm in perfect tuning just about anywhere on the neck.

I'll give you a nickel for it!
someone wanted to trade me it for my Tweed Deluxe. but, the last thing I need right now is another guitar.

Those exact words came out of my mouth right before playing (and buying) my Hamer.
Hamers during this era often suffered from Hameritis as well - the finish next to the binding on the neck and body would often be discolored (very light) or look like it was ready to flake off - it didn't effect the playability but it sure looked like crap.
Ah, my bad. I thought it was your guitar and you were trying to figure out how much it is worth...
OT - RiffRaff that isa great album and near my fav cover growing up!
I think your tweed Deluxe is worth more than that Hamer.
It would be to me anyway.
The neck won't be pencil thin...more like wide and flat.
The Hameritis issue is true enough. The finish on some Hamers from that era can look a little cloudy in the corners and it can also peel and detach from the wood.
Not a huge problem in most of them...but it is unsightly.
I love Hamers but the finish often seems to thick.
Those are nice, but you might not like the neck and if you do decide to trade make sure that there are no dead spots on the neck.
I wish I could grab that Deluxe but I won't have the fundage for a month or so.
The Deluxe will probably still be for sale in a month.
I'll keep ya posted!
