I'm going to buy a new tube amp. I need about 30-50 watt, as I don't need to be superloud, but must be able to compete with the drummer and play small gigs. The price range is about $1000 (which will be much more here in Norway :******: ). I play mostly rock, blues and jazzy music, and I've found out that I don't need enormous amount of gain. So, my choices are (up till now):
Vox AC-30CC
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (and a couple of pedals)
Fender Deluxe Reverb RI
Fender Pro Reverb
Laney VC30 (which I haven't tried, but some people seem to cherish them)
In your opinion, which is the best amp?
Oh, I forgot, I have a Hwy 1 Tele with JD and Fralin Stock Neck if that matters (thanks to Lew for great service).
I think the Laney is the cheapest of the bunch.. Haven't tried any, though.
Norweigian prices are darn high for some reason, I feel your pain with expencive amps!

I know, but that makes importing from USA cheap :P
Could importing from Germany, Denmark, Sweden or Finland be even cheaper?
Well, there are always the customs and tax payments..
Have you thought about electricity issues with amps ordered from the US? They run on 110 volts, and they don't always have a switch to change that to 230..
all good choices!
I'm not familiar with Laneys, unfortunately.
If you're talking about the new AC-30 versions, they are pretty impressive, as long as the country of origin is not an issue for you. Plenty of tone and volume.
The DRRIs are great little amps, not cheap - no frills - it's a reissue, vintage type amp. Personally, I think they sound great, but are a little finicky about tubes and speakers.
The HRDs are good quot;bang for the buckquot; gigging machines, but almost everyone says they have good cleans, but the OD tones aren't so hot, so yeah, you need a couple pedals.
you know the drill, though .. play 'em all if you can, then decide
check out the Reverend King Snake at reverend.com. See what you think of it.
Hmm... are the 22 watts in the DRRI enough?
Peavey classic 30?

Og god dag til deg, landsfrend
I think about 10 000 kroner, or at most 12-13 000 kroner.
With that kind of cash you got a lot of choices. Have you checked out musikkweb ?
You should be able to find a amp that would suit you there.

Yeah, I got my CS-3, OD-3 and V848 there...
I hope to get a used Pro Reverb...
Anyway, where did you buy your pickups? I had to import mine for Lew, which turned out to be a good choice.
Hey man, I say go with the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, but I am biased because I own one! It gets the definitve Fender chime, and takes pedals real well!! It doesnt weigh a ton, cranks out 45 watts, and you will have money to buy those pedals you want!!!
I love mine, and do mods as I have time/money to increase the headroom... I hardly use the OD channels on the amp... just my pedals!
Good Luck on the search,
Allen

You like the drive on the HRD? It usually gets bad reviews for the dirty channel.
I was at the guitar dealer today and tried the Pro Reverb, Hot Rod Deville and Hot Rod Deluxe LTD. Well, the Deluxe was best compared to the price, but wow, the Pro was stunning. Surprisingly good at low volume. I still hope to catch one used...
As has been said in other posts, check out the Traynor Blue 50.
