i am gonna be buying an after market pickup for my Larrivee D-03 and seemed to be settled on getting this model. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on the quality or sound of the M1 AS pickup?
Thanks.

wow, the larrivee d-03 is a killer guitar. my friend has one and i drool everytime i play it.
there's a video clip demo of the m1 active on lrbaggs.com. i think it sounds pretty good. go for it!
i have an lrbaggs lb6 in my simon amp; patrick rosewood model. it sounds awesome but you'll need a good eq unit since the lb6 is eq'd flat. the lrbaggs para acoustic d.i. is perfect for this.
another friend of mine has the lrbaggs ibeam in his martin dr. wow! of all the acoustic guitar pickups i've heard, the ibeam is what comes closes to reproducing the actual sound of your acoustic, like putting a really good mic (like neumann) in your guitar. there's a soundclip of the ibeam in the lrbaggs site. check it out as well.
but if you don't wanna be hassled with dealing with a guitar tech installing an undersaddle pickup, the m1 active is pretty good, i think.
i'm tryin to convince my friend who has the larrivee d-03 (it has no pickups yet) to install the lrbaggs imix in it. i'll let you know how it turns out if he ever gets to it. :-)
i use a duncan magmic and the baggs para acoustic di, between those two i get an amazing sound. never tried the m1 but the magmic is my favorite sound hole pup and ive tried lots of em some good, some not. i used to use a sunn which was nice but i like the magmic better.
having a good preamp/di is important to me, maybe not as important to you but it gives you lots of comtrol and lets you run a low z xlr to the board and lets you tune out feedback ect...
enjoy the larrivee, they are nice instruments
The M1 is a really good pickup. It gets a pretty natural tone for a sound hole pickup. It is also super easy to install and I love that it has a volume control on it. In the end I've gone for a more permanant/elegant solution with a dual source SBT/UST, but for the money and ease of use, the M1 is hard to beat.
