Hey Everyone.... just got my hands on the new 50's Esquire yesterday! I find that i'll be very satisfied with it, after a few personal touches are added of course but right off the rack, still a very quot;vintagequot; feeling and playing guitar.
Mine is the classic black with a white guard, but i'll be modding it by adding my lonely Duncan Broadcaster lead pickup, and also adding a set of Fender's bigger and better brass bridge saddles that are found on early 50's Telecasters/Esquires (they just look better to me too).
After these two easy and subtle mods, i should have the classic and sweetie of an Esquire that i've been waiting years for
Is it the new MIM Esquire?
yes.... pretty much just like the 50's MIM Telecaster, but in the Esquire configuration. Pretty sweet!!FenderBender
Those are killer guitars...I wish they had one with a more modern neck but still...nice. The brass saddle swill make a huge difference on your tone too...I put a set on my HW1 Telecaster and the difference is night and day!
Yeah.... I had a set of brass compensated saddles on a 50's RI tele that i used to have, and after hearing the difference, i promised myself that i'd never use anything else on a vintage telecaster! FenderBender

It is basically a standard tele with different wiring and no neck pickup.... BUT, the way the lead pickup is wired, you get a hotter lead sound than on a telecaster. In the switches back position, the bridge pickup is wired straight to the output jack which creates a more quot;bitingquot; tone than a regular telecaster which has the lead pickup wired through the tone pot, volume pot, switch, etc...
Much better lead sound though FenderBender
I love the look of those Tele's, just for the sheer simplicity of them.
Enjoy.
Yeah.... i never was big on neck pickups anyway, except on a strat. With a Tele i'm all about the bridge, so an Esquire is the one for me!FenderBender
hey bro...I just noticed that the Esquire comes with brass saddles...why are you switching them?

Originally Posted by Skarekrough....wouldn't that just make it a standard Telecaster with different wiring and a pickup missing?Well they are the same guitar, but a Standard Telecaster has the wrong bridge, tuners, etc...I like my Fenders to be pretty close to vintage except I prefer a slightly wider neck, I have to have fatter frets, and at least a 9.5 inch radius
They come with the thin and puny steel saddles that come on the 50's RI tele that make the whole bridge and all look cheap!FenderBender

I thought that they had brass saddles...that sucks, my HW1 Telecaster had steel saddles...the first 3 things I did was to put a set of compensated brass saddles on it, put an Electrosocket in it, and put strap locks on it...I hate Steel saddles on a Tele!
Yeah no sh*t, they just look cheap lol

Honestly, I'm really surprised that nobody on here has talked about Seymour's new signature guitar, the Custom Shop Esquire. I'm sure it cost an arm and a leg, tho.

Esquires f'ing rule!
Both of those Esquires that y'all mentioned, the SD Signature and the '59 Relic are naturally Custom Shop models, so your talkin at least $2K for each of them But thats ok, hopefully the MIM Reissue i just got will still play and sound pretty vintage-like after i put on the brass saddles and slap in my old trusty Duncan Broadcaster P/U Iquot;ll post again when i get it all set up and all that.FenderBender
