Its been a while since I have played these pups and since they were brought up in another thread......

The Full Shred is billed as bright and articulate. I don't remember these as fitting that description. If anything they were nice and beefy in the low end. Your experience?

Demon.

I seem to remember this as a bit in the bright side with a hollow mid but I have heard it decribed as a bit midrangy. Given Lynch played all maple bolt on with this pup through high gain amplification, if this were that bright those rigs would have been painfull to hear. Your experience?

I've only used a Full Shred neck pickup of those you mention. It was, indeed bright and articulate. It was very comparable to the Jazz in its clear tonality. In fact, I might even be so bold as to say that the Full Shred is a Jazz on 'roids.

Hem' or Ster'?

How would you compare the FS to the Distortion neck?

Artie

I'm really interested in trying out the Full Shred. Most people who's used them seems to like them. I just need to find a guitar with them already installed so I can try them out myself.

I'll only talk about the Full Shred.

From my experience the Full Shred is a pickup that really needs to be in the right guitar and amp. I'd agree to the articulate comment (for a medium-high output pickup), but I don't find it bright. With my setup I feel it gives my darker sounds an edge, instead of the muddiness that other pickups can get.

In my rig it's not really that bright sounding, but I know RGN really found it really piercing and bright.

YMMV, Caveat Emptor and all the rest.

I've only played the Screaming Demon maybe 3-4 times so I can't talk about that.
