I`m looking for a bridge for a MIM body and I will be using a USA Fender neck. The MIM bridge spacing is 2-1/16quot; and the USA bridge is 2-7/32quot;. Question is will the 2-7/32quot; bridge bolt right on the the MIM body and just have a difference in string spacing from a MIM bridge? All the aftermarket bridges I`ve found are 2-7/32quot; string spacing.
Anyone
Does your MIM body use the vintage 6 point attachment?
I have a 97 MIM body that I put a bridge on from someones eBay shop. I just asked about first to last hole centerline to centerline dimensions.
Strat Bridge at QuickConnect on Ebay
MIA bridges are two point. MIM are 6 screw. There will be some filling in and drilling involved to put the MIA bridge on.

The MIM 6 screw mounting space and the MIA style Vintage trem 6 screws are not matched.... To put a Vintage style Fender 6 screw bridge on a MIM strat body you will need to plug the holes and drill again.... Or just plug the holes and mount a newer 2 post modern bridge..

I dunno, IMO 2 point USA Fender bridges sound like crap compared to the 6 points... too quot;steelyquot; for a V-trem IMO
Question...Why are you changing the bridge? You could use a MIM bridge (IMO 6 point trems are better anyway...they sound better to me) and get a Callaham steel inertia block. That setup will rock.
I'm not sure a US neck will fit in the MIM neck pocket. I thought I read somewhere that the MIM neck pockets are a little deep for a US neck (but don't quote me...I could be wrong on this one)

Ya i know a lot of people don't like the Modern American Standard trem.... I have a few guitars that sound amazing with that bridge! I love the sound of vintage trems but hate the wider spacing... That being said i oneday wish to build a nice body for a Gotoh Vintage trem i have sitting here.. It's an OK bridge by me...

It´s ok, and works fine... I just much prefer the tone of a traditional 6-point or the stability of a Floyd, because for me it (the Am std) has too many of the diadvantages of both without having any real advantage over either... feels like a wierd quot;half breedquot; to me, if you know what I mean... It´s a good unit, I just prefer either quot;extremequot;, so to say....Still IMO much better then the Fender /FR locking V-trem abortion, though.. it´s the epitome of quot;half breedingquot;

I did switch to a US-spaced bridge in my MIM - to use a US steel inertia block that was otherwise doing nothing - and:
* The MIM bridge is slightly narrrower.
* So I had to plug and drill the screw holes (actualy I got away with plugging just four of them, managed to still use the inside two).
* PROBLEM: the slightly wider string-spacing can cause the outside E strings to get a bit too close to the edge of the neck, so I have to slightly 'angle' the saddles inwards to avoid that. Looks a bit dumb to any strat-geek who gets up close, but works fine.
On reflection, I should have just bought the Callaham MIM-sized steel block and used the existing bridge; worth spending a few bucks to keep everything all in line and avoid the half a day wasted drilling and plugging a pefectly good guitar. BUT whatever the case, switching from the terrible (zinc?) inertia block to a steel one was a good move: better tone, more sustain.

Never liked it much.... I find it weird playing a stock vintage style strat with the 7.25 radius, the 1 5/8 thin nut width, and the wide string spacing at the bridge... Guess i'm a modern guitar lover in a way.... I like Vintage strats don't get me wrong and i own a few reissues..
