I´ve bought a white JB for my HSS american deluxe strat 04', with aged white pickguard (very aged!). The white colour of the pickup doesn´t look good at all in it.
Does anybody know if I can tint the pickup somehow?
Any other ideas to match my pickguard colour?
Thanks
I've tried to Tint strat pickup covers, which are WAY easier, cuz you can take them off and dunk them in stuff...
You'd have to be super super careful trying to quot;dyequot; a humbucker, and not get the coils or magnets wet.
For my strat pickups, things that have worked well for me:
#1. LIGHTLY sanding the pickup cover with steel wool, then dipping it in tea or coffee for an aged white look.
#2. Same as above, but dipping it in green tea with a drop or two of green food coloring to get a quot;mintquot; effect.
#3. Get a perfectly white pickguard, and play in dirty smoky clubs for a good 10 years.
I heard leaving it in the sun so the UV rays can get at it can also speed up aging...I'm looking to do this too. (age my pickups...cause my tone and volume knobs have already started to yellow)
