Considering a tube change on my Bluesbreaker.

4x Electro Harmonix - 12AX7W(ECC83) | 10.20€ x4 = 40.80€
2x Electro Harmonix - 6L6 EHPL (5881) | 20.80€

or

2x Groove Tubes - GT 6L6 C | 45.10€
4x Groove Tubes - GT ECC 83 S | 22.60€ x4 = 90.40€Are the Groove Tubes worth the double price! I guess both brands are alot cheaper in US but I'm situated in Finland. Any other brand suggestions? seems like it's not all too easy to find different brand tubes here around but I could still need suggestions

I was also wondering if the quot;GZ34 valve rectifierquot; a tear n' wear part that should be replaced like tubes?

Thanks!

from : localhost/these guys they ship worldwide

and im 90% certain the GZ34 dosen't affect tone half as much as the other tubes heh - you should be OK leaving the stock one in

I've never dealt with EH, but I can tell you that the GT are great tubes. They really did warm up the Boogie I put them in.

For my preamp, I used the 12AX7C's instead of the ECC83S's you've got there. They are extremely smooth and rich. Definetely livened up my amp. So I highly recommend those PA tubes if you're not already set on the others.

Worth the money? In GOLD!

Checked out revolutionguitars. Their prices on GrooveTubes weren't that much lower. Thought the price i found was expensive, but seems like they aren't crazy after all

Guitarist, considered the 12AX7C's now instead after what you said about them. They are also a little cheaper from the place I might be ordering.

Price would be 129€ (~ $156) for:

2x GrooveTubes 6L6 C
4x GrooveTubes 12AX7C

Then there's the biasing. Seems like there isn't any techs here around, but I might find someone who knows how to do it. How important is it?

You can play without biasing but it doesn't give the full potential of the tubes, is that right?

Does it shorten the life of the tubes?

Groove tubes has a more stringent testing of tubes as well as a rating system although I love my EH12ax7 tubes and My GT12AX7M

good stuff man, thats about how much you'd pay from a UK supplier..

the biasing is pretty important, but try and find a 'how-to' on the net for you r amp - it can be pretty simple (depending on your amp type) as long as you're careful and respect the fact that a whole lot of electricity is inside there

example- the DSL 401 has two prongs on the circuit board for measuring with a multimeter.. not too bad
