Hey. I have a Jackson Flying-V Rhoads and I need help. I need new pickups and some extreme heavy distortion for rhythm and lead. I don't have a sound card for my comp so I can't hear any of the examples. The Screaming Demon looked good but so did the Live Wire Heavy Metal Distortion. Which pickup would sound better at either the neck or bridge position. The best combo I could come up with (by name) was a full shred in front and live wire heavy metal distortion in back. Is that possible? and how would it sound?

welcome to the forum!!

yes its possible but you are mixing a passive neck pup with an active (battery powered) bridge pup which can be done but isnt the best idea.

i used to have an old 80's jackson rhodes with a duncan sh4 jb in the neck and a sh6b duncan distortion in the bridge. it was a killer heavy setup, crunchy in the bridge and thick in the neck with strong output and great sustain.

do you have a tremolo system on this guitar? if so id say get a tb6 for the bridge. the same pup as the sh6b but with a little wider pole piece spacing

Dude the Live Wire is craziness. I've never heard of a pickup that came with it's own distortion pedal. That's what I would do if I were you. Most power I've ever heard clean, course that may not mean much. I mean, its already a Jackson so...

Ever thought about a DD/DD combo ?
