Could someone please help me pick a good bridge pickup for my Fender strat. It has room for a double wide pickup. I'm a beginner trying to get a good Angus Young sound. The fretboard is ebony if that matters. I was thinking a TB-4? Would the pots have to be changed too?

Welcome to the Forum! Angus out of a strat? I think your best bet would be a PA Blues Trembucker. As far as the pots go, I would use 250k for the master volume and neck tone and wire up a tone pot for the bridge humbucker using a 500k unit.

Angus is the guy in AC/DC who uses a 60's Gibson SG? The pickup in the Duncan line that's closest to an early 60's alnico 5 Gibson humbucker would be the 59B. So I'd recommend a 59B Trembucker so that the polepieces of the pickup line up under the strings of your Strat.

Yep....59 Trembucker or the Custom Custom or a C5,but I agree the A5s are the way to go.

I've got to try one of those someday. I've special ordered a couple and both guys were thrilled to death with the tone. But I've never tried one!

ok, so I called the guitar shop to order the TB59 and guy tells me the TB-4 is the way to go. ug, just when I had my mind made up. If this helps, the music I want to be able to play is AC/DC, Rush, Aerosmith, Guns amp; Roses. Suggestions? (besides getting a SG or LP)

The guy in the shop is on crack.

A couple of months ago I replaced a PG in a customer's roadhouse strat with one of the Blues Trembuckers. I must say that I was impressed. It gave that guitar more punch in the lows without muddying up and the highs sang under OD without getting screechy. It is a touch thicker and more compressed than the PG , but it still retains a lot of openness and it gets a cool PAF vibe. BTW, it got pretty close to a couple of VH tones along the way.

I think SD should make a normal spaced version. I think it would go great in an SG or a brighter LP.
