... other than Duncans?
I haven't used them myself , but a close friend of mine uses Lindy Fralins and they sound great. I've used stock Fender 57/62 pickups they sound good and are affordable.
Fralin makes grerat Strat pickups, I heart nothing but great things about Chubtone (which I think Im gonna try next), Kinmans are good for noiseless but the new Duncan Stack pluses are better (trust me!), Jason lollar gets lots if good reviews, TO Really likes the true single from Bare Knuckles he put in his ESP, The Fender CS 68 pickups get great reviews...
I'd say Lindy Fralin Vintage Hots...very close to the tone of the original pickups in my '63 but slightly less edgey and a with silkier, chimier tone that's similar to the Antiquity Surfers but not quite as bold and brash.
I have Surfers in most of my Strats and love them but I have a great set of Fralins in my candy apple red '57 RI Strat: Vintage Hot neck and middle/Steel Pole 43 bridge.

Surfers,Texas Hots,and the Twangbanger...

I Like and I use the Fat 50s....The Texas Specials I hate. They have too much midrange and sound harsh to me...I've really tryed to like the TS though.
