Need info on it and clips of it. I'm wondering how well it does clean jazz up to metal. Metal with pedals obviously. Mostly looking for clips. Thanks.
It does jazz perfectly on its own. It's very pedal friendly too. One of my favorite clean sounds out of an amp under $1000.
I really like the tones from it when shopping for an amp... I ended up with the Hot Rod Deluxe, though... I needed just a little more power to raise the volume of clean headroom...
I really like the Hot Rod series... they seem to be well built for the money... I have been slowly doing mods/replacing cheaper components along the way... It may not actually sound better, but I have put work into it, so I'd like to believe the changes I hear aren't my imagination... LOL!
Seriously though, the first thing I did was replace the volume pot... It is linear instead of audio taper, and I needed the ability for better adjustments....
Great amps though!!!
I've had one for years and I can't think of an amp that has more bang for the buck. Good clean and O.D. tone , will do about just about anything with the proper O.D./Distortion unit in front of it.........Joe
as long as you dont need lots of headroom, it's the ticket for a great little amp/
Sounds like my next amp!
Well, I just made a jazz ensemble...Pretty big one. Should have enough headroom for rehearsals. For performances they can mic me up. The guitarist that was before me had some kinda small fender and it was working for him. I forgot to ask what it was.
Also look into the Carvin Vintage 16. I've heard good things about that
That Carvin has a better speaker. V30
Shameless plug. I have a Blues Jr. in pristine condition for sale. I can even upgrade it to a V30 if that's what you want, I've got one laying around. Great amp, just not what I need right now...I need other stuff worse.
Pm me if your interested.
If you think you'll need more volume, I'd take a Traynor YCV 40 over a Hotrod. The cleans are just as good (not quite as warm as the Blues Jr though) and the overdrive is better than either Fender.
I picked up a Blues Junior about a year ago and did the Billm mods on it.
I can show up at a gig with my Blues Jr. and a guitar and be set for the night. Throw in a Bad Monkey or a Tube Screamer and a Wah and there aren't any bases I can't cover.
