Anyone have experience with this pedal? I want a pedal to pull of very tight and articulate overdriven tunes (a la Phish, String Cheese Incident, etc.) and wanted to know your all's thoughts...

I've got one of the early Direct Drives. Way cool pedal. Way, way cool. Nice overdriven sound, not a lot of compression, and it's dynamic to your attack.

Also look into the Hermida Mosferatu for the tone you're describing.
