well my Bassman is crapping out and needs new tubes and lately i've been wondering if a 68 Fender amp is really the amp for the sound i'm after. I notice my favorite tones are from Converge (vintage Marshall and Ampeg and like three distortion pedals) Leftover Crack (using a Peavey Butcher and a DS-1) and notice a lot of good tones coming from Mesa Boogie Rectifiers...

so i'm wondering what you guys would do in this situation...i could easily sell my Bassman and save up for a different amp that suits my needs better. I've been reading about Orange amps like the Rockerverb that sound right up my alley, as well as several affordable Peaveys and stuff...not to mention the Valvetronix...so yeah, suggestions?

I never liked Bassmans...
If you're looking for vintage Marshall-y tones, check out the THD Flexi-50.
Also, check out the new Mesa Lonestar. That's a really cool, extremely versatile amp. I'm thinking about selling my ToneKing and getting one...

try out an xxx (through non-peavey cab if possible)

it seems right up your alley
