I got some great wire,
same stuff that's highly reccomended from a Boo-teak winder friend,
43 enamel'
42 enamel
42 heavy Fomvar
just the wire was $500.00 -- ouch
the winder was $380.00-- not bad and its got a nice forgiving clutch-- you can stop the machine just by pinching the wire.
sumtin' bout' a hand wind pup that just sounds great all its own!
I make everyone that stops by wind a pup..
even my 78 year old friend wound one up.
its fun and nice to have around
I should try to get some paying jobs to cover the cost of the thing.
LOL!
first priorty is for myself-- I'm going to wind a 10K 43 enamel tele Bridge for that keith Richards thing... Keith likes those old 10k 43 enamel Broadcasters.
and for the neck I'll wind a nice 6.7k PAF... YIPPIE!
Scott FJeremy
Roberts SJolly
You 4-guys are good for at least one Gratis' rewind here -- if you have something in mind! ... lets send it on over..
Cheer's
That Broadcaster sounds pretty cool! Please let us know how you make out.
very cool!!
where did ya get the plain enamel and formvar wire???
Ahhh hey Jeremy,I hear it's the same place that Fender and Seymour get theres.
great sounding wire.
How much for a rewind -- single coil and humbucker?

Oh I'm gonna have MJ do some stuff for me too! You wouldn't wind a pickup for a forum brother ;D?
A 6.7 humbucker -- won't that be excruciatingly bright?
how do you measure the wire as your winding it?

I *think* most of the winders that you can buy have a counter on them.
Hi-- agreed-- Marcela is the worlds best!
I found lots of 6.7k to 6.9k in Gibson early 60's 335's they sound perfect!
IMHO a 7.2 neck is too dark and musshy..
We winder wino's -- stop the machine sand off the insulation and measure the DC's - then spray some laquer over that spot so it don't short across a weak spot in the coating eleswhere.
also I have a counter.. that and checking helps then you need to keep records too-- cause the friction while winding on the wire acyually heats the coil itself and you'll get slightly higher readings..

Cool! Have you ever used the Duncan Jazz? A *little* more bass than I like, but still an excellent pickup! 7.7 I believe, but a different sort of wire maybe?
i really-really like the jazz-- still was not everything i needed for my personal style.
That's killer Donzo!! Man oh man, I know you and you're definitely gonna get your money's worth out of it. You're gonna be researching everyone in the world's pickups and trying to replicate them. Thanks for the Gratis' rewind. I'll have to get with you. Maybe a slightly overwound Jazz bridge Model. That sounds pretty good to me.
