I've been in this 80's metal mode lately (seeing Motley Crue the other night didn't help) and I'm thinking I want to try out a floyd rose equiped guitar. I've been looking at older Charvels and Jacksons (I don't want to spend alot of money here). In particular, the Charvel Model 475 caught my eye. Anyone wanna pipe or offer any other suggestions?

If someone has the patience to deal with one, or has it blocked, it's no problem at all.Floyds are currently my favortie setup.

By far one of the nicest playing and sounding guitars I've ever laid my hands on. My only two gripes are the control layout which isn't all that bad and I wish it had a contoured heel.

I've got (well I will in a couple days) 2 80's Axe's with Floyds, both blocked so they only go down.

1 main advantage is tuning stability

Then there's the awesome Dive-bombs

I'm all for double locking bridges, they're awesome if you get the right ones.

Matt, Jackson/Charvel is the way to go my friend! I am sure Zerb will chime in and lead you in the right direction for a killer model at a low price! I think The Japense ones are a great bang for the buck myself!

BTW, dont listen to Christian!!!!! He is a total Floyd hater and Whitesnake is a killer band!!!!!

1 to everything, especially the J/C suggestion (go figure!).

1 on Gamp;L Invaders. I feel stupid for selling the one I had. It was a gem. Only get the mahogany/maple veneer one though. It sounds much better than swampash, which isn't the right wood for Floyds, IMO.

You might want to search 'Floyd' in electric guitars on Ebay. I like seeing them all come up from highest to lowest. If you're good at spotting quality by sight, like I'm sure you are, you'll know which one to take a chance on.

I enjoy Floyds and Charvels..... mind you i was a teen in 1988 so i was effected by the hair metal scene for sure.... I'm also a fan of The Who and on the 1989 and the 1996 Who tours Pete Townshend used Eric Clapton Strats with Floyd Roses.. Pete with Floyds... go figure.... These days he is using custom Eric Clapton strats with 2-post Fishman Bridges and locking tuners.... He wangs away on that Fishman trem arm like it's a Floyd and hardly goes out of tune.... Wish i could learn how to set up my strats to stay in tune that well.. Until then i'll keep a guitar or 2 around with floyds on them.. Out of the 20 guitars i have 2 have Floyds....

If its set up well, and has a good quality floyd and locking nut, you will have no issues.

99.99% of Floyd trouble is the users fault.
