hey guys...whats up?
...so...any owners of a parker or a vigier? tell me whats about this axes...
vigier excalibur has a very good critics, as long as they are super-strat models, and the exotic parker fly model seems interesting also...but, thats theory...
any of you guys has tryed or owns one of this and can tell me/us about this 2 brands?
thats it...thanks a lot dudes
see ya
I have a parker nitefly and it has some strenghts and definate weaknesses:
Pros:
The neck feels AWESOME! The fret size, stainless steel frets, everything. It's like butter. The only thing I don't like is the compound radius. It's not all that bad but if it were a flat radius it'd be perfect. There is not a structrual or cosmetic flaw on any Parker guitars I've ever seen. Their QC is out of this world. Their necks are truly finely constructed. The Fisman piezo is also great. It actually sounds really good through a guitar amp also. The Sperzel tuners are a definate plus also. Parkers also have one of the best designed trems I've ever used. It has the range of a floyd but the smoothness of a wilkinson or similar, actually better, it's very smooth and stable, and has three different modes you can set it to, one being bend down only, so that when you bend strings the others don't go out of tune and you get more sustain too.
Cons: The compound radius on the neck. Maple body, WHY a maple body? The guitar has no midrange and is definately thin and bright sounding. A pickup changed helped a lot but it seems they completely overlooked the sound of the instrument in favor of the quot;coolquot; features they added. A fatal flaw of the otherwise wodnerful trem unit is if you do a severe dive bomb because of the string break angle (the strings load from the rear of the bridge), the strings will lift off the saddles briefly and they will be plucked, so you'll get a PING when you dive down low, yikes! Not good. The dimarzio custom wound humbucker was very mediocre but bad and the single coils were surprisingly good.
With all of that said, mine is on ebay right now because I just purchased a Gamp;L legacy. They are great guitars but it just wasn't for me.
Oh, and the Fly mojo or similiar, I'd like to try one of those sometime. I would think with the set neck and mahogany that thing would have some beef for sure. My nitefly was supposed to have more of a vintage strat vibe which it does well. I think those would be quite superb guitars but they are so much money. But if it has the playability of this guitar with more beef and midrange I'd definately say it's almost worth the money.
oh...sorry xeromus...but, what is a compound radius? (and a flat radius, then?)
the rest of the specs seems awesome...

compound radius means it's rounder at the nut and gets flatter as you go toward the bridge. It's a conical shape. A flat radius is what you see on almost every guitar out there. The neck is the same radius from the nut to the bridge.
ok...hey thanks a lot dude....
and what about vigier guitars? any owner on the forum??
