Cool photos... I'm a fan of the Mexican Fenders in a way.... I like the price! I have one strat from Mexico Fender that i like almost as much as any American strats i have played... I like it almost as much as my USA Standard. I bought this Mexican i like for $200 Canadian used...... That is almost free for a good strat in my mind.... I own 3 Mexican Strats and the 1 is way better then the other 2....
neato! Thanks for the pics!
Those pics make me think about my 2001 mexico standard P-bass in Midnight blue, i miss that bass!
To bad fender doesn't make them in that colour no more
Wow, nice clean facilities.

To bad fender doesn't make them in that colour no moreyes they do, the Standard series strats have Midnight lbue as a choice, but it's the satin finish. Nice pics, although the necks are made in the US. and finished and sanded in Mex.
Theres also a tour thingy on fendereurope.
Is that the only Mexican Factory? It looks about the size of this big big grocery store I used to work at.

This romour of the Mexican necks being made in the USA and finnished in Mexico is false.... In fact you can even see them in these photos making necks... The Mexican plant makes necks for Mexican guitars...
WhoFan
wow thats alot of bodies. I doubt they would miss one fi you took one haha. Well they probably are serial numbered at a certain point.
I love my mexican strat, thanks for those cool pics, very interesting indeed, that sure is a lot of wood they use..
So they're the people who put those grody coats on the maple fretboards...
Thanks for finding the pics and posting them. I've always wanted to see what that factory looked like. The first thing I thought of was 'imagine getting that place up to speed with all those workers, the first year or two??' It seems like the first couple years would turn out a bunch of garbage, but after they become fully experienced, the guitar quality would go way up. I think that's kind of the story of Mexican, Japanese, and Korean Fenders right?
I think I'd take a 'late year' guitar from an import factory. Imagine getting to take your pick out of all those thousands of finished guitars. You could play 500, and pick the one that is the cream of the crop!
Wow, thanks for sharing Davey. Those are cool pics.
At one point, the bodies and necks quot;werequot; made in the US, then shipped to the Mexico plant and assembled there. I know this because the regional rep that I dealt with at the store I worked at told me this, as well as a few I asked on the phone, this was 10 years ago though and ALOT has changed. If I'm not mistaken, a new plant was opened down there recently and they started making everything there.

yea... out of all those bodies and necks you can get a couple of truly kickass ones, on par with the ones MIA, or better than 85% of the MIA ones, then do with it what you like. mmmmmmm
Hand sanded and hand finished. I'll have to remember that one next time I see one of those Fender vs Gibson pricing threads.
