The Ashdown Peacemaker combos seem to be getting a good rightup... Ashdown are famous for bass amps and the Fallen Angel metal amps, but the peacemakers seem quite good spec - and look REALLY cool

Anyone have any experience with these babies? Thinking of 20 or 40 W versions...

I've been using a 40W Peacemaker for a couple of years now, I think they are really good value for money and sound really nice. I really wanted a Cornford Harlequin but couldn't afford the extra £150.

How does your 335 sound through it? I'm looking for a decent britrock 'crunch' for open and barre chords alike, as well as lower gain stuff...

No experience with them myself, but have you read the Harmony Central reviews? A few people report reliability issues with the 40w version:

I did read some of them, but what some ppl like ain't necessarily what I like! I really wanna play one or get a soundclip... anyone know where I could get an mp3? tried the ashdown site, but that was a wierd experience...

all the UK amp makers have crap sites hehe - ashdown, laney, marshall to an extent...

i was mates with a guy last year, we both wanted a small tube amp. he got the peacemaker 40, i got a Marshall DSL 401... i only played through the ashdown very briefly, but i liked it. more of a softer edge than the marshall, reminded me of the bluesbreaker..

either way, for 40w tube amps, it seems reliability problems are quite common.. my marshall had to go back, a solder joint went and caused a bit of mischeif inside..

my advice - if you're looking for a britrock crunch, i would look at the peacemaker pretty closely indeed, closer than the 401 IMO... both are good amps, just keep the receipt just in case, and buy from a responsible dealer

The 335 sounds great through it and has wide range everything from warm creamy blues through to crunchy classic rock. The Seths have been a revelation. Its excellent for those Oasis slightly jangly tones Don't use gain much as I'm not into heavy metal high gain sounds but the Ashdown can do it quite well.

There are a couple of good reviews on the ashdown site that are worth a read.

As regards the comments about the reliability issues these occurred when the Peacemaker was originally released and have now been sorted. I've certainly not had any issues.
